Provide Children with Dental Services at Annual
“Make A Difference Day” – Saturday, March 7, 2015

Over 25 dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants, will volunteer their time to provide dental services up to 80 children. The dental practitioners will provide exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and patient education. There will be dentists on-site to administer to emergency procedures. Spanish-speaking volunteers will be available. Pre-registration for the event is required. Parents may register their children 12 years old and under by calling (805) 577-7482 between 9:00am and 2:00pm to make an appointment. Directions and other instructions will be given to registrants.
“Cavities and other dental health issues not only affect children’s ability to speak and maintain a healthy self-image,” says Olga Lafflitto, the Free Clinic of Simi Valley’s Dental Administrator and one of the organizers of the event, “but they can contribute to systemic health problems later in life, such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease. Treating young children and educating them about healthy dental practices early on is our goal.” Lafflitto and the other members of the Ventura County Dental Hygienists’ Association are seeking cash donations to purchase the supplies that will be used for the event, as well as, refreshments for those attending the event. Children will receive a “goody bag” with toothpaste, a kid’s toothbrush, and educational material. The services at the event are free of charge, but a donation of $30 which benefits the Free Clinic are appreciated.
“We appreciate our association with the Ventura County Dental Hygienists’ Association and applaud their generosity is providing these vital services to Simi Valley’s youngest and most vulnerable,” said Fred Bauermeister, Executive Director of the Free Clinic of Simi Valley.
