The Free Clinic of Simi Valley provides medical, dental, ophthalmology, individual and family counseling, and legal aid services through the generosity of volunteer professionals. Because of this, no other Clinic in the country has delivered more consistent value per donor dollar, for as long has the Free Clinic of Simi Valley has.

Medical Services

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley is licensed by the State of California under the same rigorous standards as any hospital or nursing home. Additionally, the Free Clinic maintains a licensed dispensary/ pharmacy so that our patients can receive needed medications. We also partner with Adventist Health Simi Valley to provide laboratory tests and other services on behalf of our patients.

In addition to providing these basic services, the Free Clinic provides training and supervision for individuals interested in pursuing careers as health professionals. The Free Clinic works in cooperation with Kaiser Permanente, where 2nd and 3rd year resident physicians receive training in clinical medicine.

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley’s Medical Program addresses the health problems facing uninsured or under-insured individuals and families in the community. Volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and physician assistants provide direct diagnosis, treatment and education for a wide variety of medical problems. A $40 donation is suggested for each visit.

Tracey Young, MD - Director of Medical Services
Dr. Young has been volunteering with the Free Clinic since 2012. She began her journey as a Resident and continued volunteering as a Fellow, supervising resident doctors. During this time, she also joined the Board of Directors, where she served for five years before becoming the Director of Medical Services. Outside the Free Clinic, Dr. Young is an Urgent Care doctor for Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Young received her undergraduate degree from USC and her medical degree from George Washington School of Medicine in 2012. Following her residency, she received her fellowship in Community Medicine, which created a natural pathway to the Free Clinic by igniting her passion to serve the underserved in our community. This passion for Global Health, also led Dr. Young to treat patients in Jamaica, India, China, Bolivia, Haiti, Guatemala, South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia.

She looks forward to continuing to provide essential medical services to the patients of the Free Clinic for many years to come.

Legal Services

Our Legal Program is made possible by the generosity of our volunteer attorneys. These dedicated professionals provide invaluable guidance in navigating the often complex legal issues related to:

Family Law/Divorce
Individual rights
Landlord-tenant disputes

We offer individual sessions which can last between 15 minutes to one hour, allowing clients to receive expert assistance and guidance to protect their interests.
While our volunteer attorneys do not represent individuals in court, they do offer expert assistance in navigating the legal system and provide valuable advice.
A suggested donation of $40 per session is greatly appreciated to help support the program and its ongoing efforts.

Ron Whiteman, Esq - Director of Legal Services
Ron Whiteman has been with the Free Clinic as a volunteer attorney since 1976. He specializes in family law and has served a a judge pro tem for the Ventura County Courts. Ron is very well respected and has been recognized by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce for his work as a volunteer at the Free Clinic.

Counseling Services

Free Clinic of Simi Valley counselors are trained in providing clients with the skills necessary to deal with emotional and environmental issues in their lives. Individuals and families spend approximately one hour per week in a private confidential setting receiving careful guidance and caring support from a trained counselor.

The average course of therapy ranges from six weeks to six months. Appointments are arranged at various times and on various days throughout the week. A donation of $40 is suggested per session.

All therapists are either Registered Marriage and Family Therapists, or Associates working on completing 3,000 hours of supervised counseling in order to become licensed in California. The Free Clinic of Simi Valley has a long history of providing training for Marriage and Family Therapists.

Mary Ann Lovegren, LMFT - Director of Counseling Services
Mary Ann Lovegren received her Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies in 1995 from the University of Arizona, and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1997 from California Lutheran University. She was licensed in 2002, and has been in private practice for over 20 years in the Conejo Valley.

In addition to her private practice, Mary Ann worked for two local hospitals in different capacities, including directing community outreach and developing programs. She has also collaborated with a local attorney to guide divorcing couples through the process, focusing first and foremost on what is best for their children.

As someone who believes in serving her community, Mary Ann has volunteered her time on the Ventura County CAMFT board of directors, as well as currently serving as the President of the Mental Health Professionals of the Conejo Valley.

Mary Ann began supervising therapists-in-training in 2014 for another non-profit center, and in 2018 joined the Free Clinic as a volunteer individual supervisor. We are delighted that she accepted the position of Director of Counseling for the Free Clinic in August 2021.

Dental Services

The Free Clinic of Simi Valley’s Dental Program addresses the health problems facing uninsured or underinsured individuals and families in the community. Volunteer dentists, assisted by dental hygienists and dental assistants, provide direct diagnosis, treatment and education for a wide variety of dental problems. This is a popular service, and based on the the limited resources of the Clinic, there is often a long waiting list to be seen. A donation of $40 is suggested per visit.

Ean Kleiger, DDS - Director of Dental Services
Dr. Kleiger was raised in Granada Hills California. After high school, Dr. Kleiger attended the University of California San Diego and received a degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. From there, he attended USC School of Dentistry and graduated in 2000. Dr. Kleiger is an active member of the American Dental Association and Ventura County Dental Society. He has been awarded the American Academy of Oral Pathology and Crest Award for Excellence in the Treatment of the Elderly. Dr. Kleiger is dedicated to advanced post-doctoral study, providing you with a comprehensive and advanced approach to your dental health. He specialized exclusively in modern dentistry and utilizes only the least invasive techniques and most effective material available. Dr. Kleiger continues his strong ties with the community through his active involvement in the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club and as the Director of the Simi Valley Free Clinic where he donates his time.
